- Thank you to Naoko Henschke, Elizabeth Sugimoto, Teruko Sharif, Aaron McLuckie, Ken Gillespie, Kyoko Kusumoto and Liberty Campbell for their contribution throughout the year.
- It is also time for me to say farewell to our members as the president of JTAN. I am very proud that the JTAN web site is now able to process online registration for all its wonderful professional workshops and other administration, eliminating a lot of paperwork. It has been made possible by our wonderful IT technician Hai Nguyen of Concat.
- MYOB accounting software was introduced to our Treasurer to streamline all our incoming and outgoing expenses. I would like to thank Ken for giving up his personal time to attend many hours of training on MYOB so that the JTAN's funds are managed accurately and reported back to our members with transparency.
- We donated $15,000 to the Earthquake Tsunami Appeal with our exam sales profit. I have many other seeds I would love to plant in the 'JTAN pot' but it's now time to pass the baton to the new president.
- Thank you to all our JTAN members for being generous contributors to the association, and for your enthusiasm and the passion which you model for your students in your classes. Without you, JTAN would not exist.

- In 2011, The Japanese Teachers' Association of NSW created a new website using Google documents which enabled registration for membership and workshops. It worked well, however ongoing problems with sending invoices and receipts persisted. We have now upgraded the existing JTAN website for you to be able to register online.
- Workshops and In-services
In 2011, JTAN continued to run the three student workshops (Year 10, Year 12 Continuers and Beginners.) All student workshops were very successful and much appreciated by the participating teachers and students. In Term 2, we also created excellent listening resources for stage 5. Following demand from members, the focus of this year's AGM conference is to cater to teachers and students from stage 4 to 6 and to improve the sharing of digital resources.

- As at 30 September, 2011 JTAN's made a gross loss of $2,667.20.
- Cash at Bank
On 1 October, 2010 JTAN's cash balance was $71,252.52. In 30 September 2011 the balance was $75,496.91; however, this will decrease as unpresented cheques are deposited. JTAN has a calculated working capital of $68,585.32. Although JTAN has made losses on many of its workshops during 2011 we trust our members have found them rewarding learning spaces for both teachers and students of Japanese alike. We have also donated $15,000 to the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Fund which we believe is a very humane use of profits from selling our examinations this year.
- ATO Witholding Tax
JTAN may be a rare organisation which pays honoraria to its contributors. We appreciate those contributors who spend countless hours working for the benefit of all JTAN members considering its return. Consequently, such honoraria are treated as taxable income for individuals hence 31.5% tax is withheld by JTAN and paid to Australian Taxation Office every three months.
